Two Free Things
The first, a small token of appreciation and Christmas-y good feelings: over at Quick Stop Entertainment there’s a live version of Christmas is Interesting as performed at Johnny D’s in Somerville last week, featuring the delightful backing vocals and shaker chops of Paul and Storm. Quick Stop are the people running the Code Monkey remix contest, as I know you remember well, the results of which should be available very soon.
And here’s the big present you open last: I know not why (perhaps it is “promotional”), but iTunes is giving away the audio book version of The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman. In a deal we made long before he was famous, for every copy you download I get two mouth kisses from John. Go easy, would you?
The Jam, The Java
Another great show, thank you everyone for coming out and bringing friends. We had about 200 people at Jammin Java on Sunday, which is really huge and scary (especially when everyone is making zombie noises). Paul and Storm had a great set too, and we closed the evening out with a 3-part harmony Duran Duran cover. The rock juice was flowing freely that night, and some of it even got my socks wet.
What an incredible week – four huge shows, Box Sets selling like hotcakes, inbox overflowing. You guys rule.
Show Recap
Friday night was Mo Pitkins – sold out show. Dude. This is getting serious. Sorry to everyone who couldn’t get in, next time we’ll have to find a bigger venue. I was a little troubled by the green room situation, which was really more of a bathroom with a drumset in it. The choices were 1) stand next to the toilet, or 2) sit on the toilet. Here’s a picture of Storm enjoying option 2 (if you know what I mean):
And last night was Milkboy in Ardmore, PA – another sold out show. What the hell is going on here? Who are all you people? This was my third time at Milkboy and it’s really an excellent venue, it always sounds good, and the audience vibe is perfect. I had a Cobb salad and a black and white milkshake – what else do you need really?
Tonight Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA. I think this is going to be a big one, the crowds are always good there, and we seem to be having a particularly good run (thanks NPR!). And speaking of good runs, I’m afraid the Thing a Week Box Set has sold out at CDBaby already – more are on the way, and I think should be there by Tuesday. And then I’m out of boxes. Holy cow.
At Long Last
Thing a Week 3 and Thing a Week 4 CDs are now available at CDBaby, and so is the Thing a Week Box Set – all 4 CDs in a signed and numbered tin box, which comes with a little sheet of stickers so you can make your own cover, or decorate your Trapper Keepers. I’m expecting these will go quickly, so I’m going to send back up supplies today. CDBaby will ship Priority Mail (2-3 days) if you order more than one CD, and they also have overnight options if you really want to be sure to save Christmas.
Some of you are going to ask me about getting a box and some stickers, since you’ve already bought the CDs. I’m going to hook you up – I’ll figure out some way to make build-your-own box set kits available at cost. But not by Christmas. Bah, humbug!
Tonight I’m at Mo Pitkins with Paul and Storm, and I’ll have all these CDs with me there too. Bring your money!
